Morality of Torture II

An alien space ship hovers 200,000 meters above London for a couple of weeks before nuclear pop bottle rockets are fired on it without effect. Finally, a voice emanates from the ship and is heard in everyone's native language all over the globe "You must torture 2 people which we will select at random and using the torture devices we provide or we will incinerate the planet. We are otherwise an honorable bunch of aliens and if you toture these 2 people we will leave and we will also insure the life long prosperity of your planet . . . no more famine, no more draught, no more despotic rulers, no more cancer, AIDS, Roseanne Barr, etc."

The "you" the aliens are referring to is anyone who chooses to post on this subject. Primarily I am interested in hearing from people on DanRollins thread who claim torture is wrong . . .always and under any circumstance. Clearly, because the condition I set forth is so farfetched, it will be dopey to try and change it, so if you do, I will make very cynical and sarcastic comments about you. Anyone who has read comments on other threads I've posted comments on knows that I am willing and capable of doing that at the drop of a proverbial hat.

You can rid the world of all problems forever or you can let the world be reduced to a hot rock . . . simply by torturing 2 people or not. So . . .
