Islam and the Deluge myth

I came across the following verse in the Qur'an:

"And a Sign for them is that We bore their race (through the Flood) in the loaded Ark" - 36:41


I had no idea that Islam taught of the Great Flood; so, I done some Googling, and looked up the Deluge myth on wikipedia - but I couldn't find anything regarding Islam's teaching of it. So, I'm a little confused. Have the Muslims swept this absurd verse under the rug? Or, have I misunderstood the context? ..
