Making yourself right and others wrong.

A few days ago I was reading through that post "Who Created God" which was answered recently. I re-read some of my own posts, and I did not like what I read. The arguments were sound enough, but it was evident that there was a lot of ego in those posts.

Making yourself right, and others wrong is one of the main egoic mind patterns.

I was reading a book by Eckhart Tolle recently, in which he interpreted a statement by Jesus: "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs will be the kingdom of heaven". I was amazed by his simple interpretation:

"What does poor in spirit mean? No inner baggage, no identifications, not with things, nor with any mental concepts that have sense of self in them. And what is the kingdom of heaven? The simple and profound joy of being that is there when you let go of identifications and so become poor in spirit. This is why renouncing all possessions has been an ancient spiritual practice in both east and west. Renunciation of possessions, however, will not automatically free you of the ego. It will attempt to ensure its survival by finding something else to identify with with, for example a mental image of yourself of someone who has transcended all interest in material possessions, and is therefore superior, and is MORE spiritual than others...."

One could equally identify with a mental image of oneself as a scientist, who's objective knowledge of things could be used to make oneself right and others wrong.

Before we post on here we ought to ask ourselves who is posting. Is it some dark region of our mind requiring illumination? Or some pertinent knowledge or idea is appropriate to the discussion? Or is it the ego?

I wonder if EE encourages the ego. For example, awarding points on EE. After we have gained the 3000 required, aren't the rest of points there to facilitate an ego race?

I don't know if any discussion can come of of this - it's more an observation. But feel free to post.
