With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

Does God ever change His mind?

This question is inspired by WaterStreet's "credible conversion arguments" thread (http:Q_24253861.html). This is a side issue, but I think it bears examination -- on its own.

Background:
All of Christianity believes that the New Testament is religious doctrine and that Christ was the Messiah prophesied in the Old Testament. Some sects of Christianity go even further and believe that OTHER revelations have since occurred that modify and/or expand upon the doctrines from *both* books. As I understand it, Muslims believe that the Qur'an records additional doctrines -- stories, advice, and rules that go beyond, clarify, or supersede the (earlier) books from the Torah.

One view would be that any new book or revelation would need to be 100% consistent with all previous works. It's a reasonable assumption; after all, an eternal and omniscient God would surely know all about these future revelations at the time of the earlier ones.

However, it seems to me that there might be situations where later writings of the Old Testament/Torah/Tanakh (what we'll call the core books so we can avoid issue with later works) include new commandments, advice, and so forth that were corrections of modifications of the earlier writings, and that were expressly the WORD of God.

The questions: Can you identify any such situations?

I'm thinking of a few possible examples, but I'd really like to hear from biblical scholars before I throw out some possibilities.
