Seek for Help - Discrimination between the rich and the poor before the law
To whom that may concern
I'm a resident of Hong Kong SAR, who would like to disclose the discrimination between the rich and the poor before the law.
On 27th Jan, some nude photos of three popular artistes have been posted on different forums, and the news spread quickly via the Internet, those photos
could be downloaded easily from different forums, search engines and download soft wares. The artistes and their management company, Emperor Entertainment
Group, reported this to the HK Police, after they made a statement which claims those photos from the internet aren't real, and may charge the offender for
defamation.
The Hong Kong Police Force called a press conference to show their concern about these nude photos of celebrities, and assigned 100 cops to investigate this
case, and monitor the Internet to make sure no more celebrities' nude photos leak out.
This unusual act of the Hong Kong Police Force caused a lot of discontent among the society. As for not long ago, there's a serial cat murder case, the Hong
Kong Police Force claimed they were lack of manpower and unable to gather evidence, and let the cat murder continued for weeks. But as for this celebrity
case, the Police Force shown that they are able to arrange hundreds of civil servants in a few hours, and that really surprises all the residents.
On 31st Jan, Hong Kong Police arrested a suspect, and was taken before the judge on 1st Feb. But this celebrity libel case suspect is forbid to apply for
parole, which rarely happens to a misdemeanor suspect like this. Without the parole, it is just a different form of serving the sentence in prison.
There were a few questionable cases happened in Hong Kong not long ago. Two months ago, a car accident that caused one death, the sentence for driver on a
Porsche, is only HKD2000 penalty and suspension of his driver license. There was also a rape case with a wealthy suspect that the suspect gets to release in
parole too.
Comparing with this celebrity nude photo case, the suspect is unemployed and has 500k debts from his credit cards. The court took the situation of the
suspect, which is completely penniless as a reason to define the him has the motive to commit a crime. So the suspect in this case won't get the right to
release in parole until mid-March.
As for a normal resident like me and most others, not rich but just average income, have realized that the discrimination between the rich and the poor, even
the court and before the law.
And what brings the huge concern of Hong Kong residents is, on 2nd Feb, the Hong Kong Police Force arrest 4 people for 'having obscene photographs in their
computer' and suspects of 'uploading obscene photographs onto the Internet'. Which the truth is, those 4 people were only posting a link of the relative
photos' downloading websites onto the Internet. And the 'forward' part does not act against the law in Hong Kong, which those who downloaded the images
should bear no legal responsibility. Only the one uploaded those obscene photos, and passed them to people under the age of 18, his act would be criminal.
Hong Kong Police Force have made a announcement that keeping obscence photos, even not about this celebrity defamation case, would be illegel. So having
porns and nude photos in the computer will be consider as a crime. Thats the most unbelievable thing I have ever heard. All caused by the Rich and Famous
celebrities and their company.
'All men are equal before the law'? I doubted if this applies in Hong Kong
