Blue eyed men

This logic puzzle has been posted some time ago in another topic section.
I put it in here again for fun of those who don't know it already:

In an island, there are n men with blue eyes (n>0). The day a man realises for sure that he has blue eyes, he dies (let's say in the night following that day). Everyday, each man meets all the other men in that island. The total population of the island & n are unknown. All the men in the island cannot convey any message about their eyes to the other in any way. A man has no direct way of finding out if he has blue eyes or not (no mirrors or the like).
All the men know that there are some men in the island with blue eyes.
Of course, as usual for a logic game, we suppose all men behave perfectly logically.

How many days will it take for all the n men with blue eyes to die and why?
