Question

what's the punch line of this joke or riddle?

DBA joke
An SQL query goes into a bar, walks up to two tables and asks, "Can I join you"?  

not sure if it is a joke or a riddle.

All I can think of is a google search of SQL = server and DBA is a chain of drinking establishments, so all I can see is a "server" tending to "two tables". I've never had a server (waiter) ask to sit down and join me.

What's the joke or answer here?

    LOL.  Inner, left, right, or full?

    In SQL, when you want to extract data from 2 or more tables, matching the data from one against the other in some way, you use a JOIN.  Think of a data table, not a physical table ... and it starts to make sense.

    Get OUTER here! - That is the joke!
    INNER joke like this an SQL query is the JOIN the UNION guy
    They'll have to ORDER BY closing time or be LEFT OUTER pocket.

    I guess it's just a SELECT few FROM here who understand.

    Try a Google of JOIN and the other upper case words to see why it's meant to be funny.
