Work out the net seuqnce of numbers
Hi Experts
Just to point out before any one asks this is not a lottery question........
I have an excel spreadsheet with random number, i want to work out a pattern/relatrionship between the numbers. what will appear next, the likely hood of occurance etc....based on historical data........
i have not clue on log programme new to this .......

the basic is to know statistical functions of excel, you cannot predict - you can "estimate" the next number
If the numbers are truly random, then any pattern/relatrionship you find will be
purely coincidental, and of no value to predicting new numbers.
If they are not truly random, then it's best start with some theory for what kind of pattern/relatrionships you should expect.
Otherwise, you could just test for so many different types or patterns that some of them ae bound to come up with statistically significant results.

hi ozo.......
let me answer your questions and get back to you.
once again thanks for the feedback..
let me answer your questions and get back to you.
once again thanks for the feedback..
seems to be completely random data,
the question is if you are sure that they are random or there is any pattern ?
the question is if you are sure that they are random or there is any pattern ?

What is was the mechanism for generating the numbers? - randonly picked out of a hat.
What kinds of patterns might you expect to emerge from that mechanism? - not sure other than number repeatiung themselves and that certain number appearing together and more than once etc...
Would you expect some numbers to appear more often than others? - yes - again random
That would be something you could do a statistical analysis on. - no sure about the answer to this question
Would you expect the probability of a number appearing to change depending on the previous number? - yes. if its a random selection... the previous two numbers? three numbers? - yes and yes again....
Would you expect weekly or seasonal periodicities? - not sure
Would you expect to see a general increase in the numbers? - can you kindly explain further
Were the numbers generated by a linear congruential random number generator? - yes
That could produce different types of patterns. -yes again...
i hope i have answered you question - as best as i can...

How were the numbers placed in the hat?
Are the numbers replaced in the hat after being picked?
Were smaller numbers placed into the hat before larger numbers?
Are numbers written on pieces of paper of different sizes or textures?
How were the numbers produced to put into the hat?
I'm not sure I understand your answers, because some you say yes to things that should be mutually exclusive.
One thing you might start with is just counting how many times each number appears and see if some numbers appear more often than others.
You might find the maximum and minimum numbers in your sample.

How were the numbers placed in the hat? - ramdonly thrown in
Are the numbers replaced in the hat after being picked? - NO
Were smaller numbers placed into the hat before larger numbers? - the number are mixed up in the hat after placing
Are numbers written on pieces of paper of different sizes or textures? - on the same size squares cut out
How were the numbers produced to put into the hat? - on paper......cut out

hi roads....
how would i do that....based on the attachment.....i do not have a clue...

the numbers are ascending in rows, so calculate the mean for each column - that would give you the value that "more or less" should appear in the next row in column x

I don't believe you can get numbers like this by randomly picking them out of a hat.
Is there one copy of each of the numbers from 1-50 in the hat?
Do you pick out five numbers at random and then sort them?
Do you pick out the first number at random, and then pick out other numbers until
you get one that is larger?
What happens if the first number you pick out is 50?

- yes randomly picked out one by one
You did say this wasn't a lottery question, but I don't believe you any more.
I do believe this is a waste of time.

no this is not a waste of time.........
if the question is not answerable then i'll look for a solution in by some other means..........and it is not a lottery question....
if you think this is a waste of time then kindly do not reply.
