The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Trigger events in EventGhost from cmd or python scipt

Asked by TonoNam in Automation, Windows Batch Scripting, Python Scripting Language

I am using a program called EventGhost as automation software. It listens for events and if an event occurs then it will run a macro. What am I trying to do is to trigger events from cmd or from a python script so that I can run a macro from cmd or python script on event ghost. What I have done in order to run a macro on evenntghost from cmd is to add a plug in in eventghost that triggers macros whenever a file is created in a specific location on my c drive (plug is called directory watcher) therefore I will be able to trigger/run a macro from cmd whenever I create a file from cmd such as a blablabla.txt  file. the only problem is that I have come to the point where I have lots of macros and I need a plugin for every macro that I want to be able to run from cmd. It will be very nice if I don't have to do all this for every macro I wish to run from cmd.
Other things I have tried is that in eventghost there exists a plugin called webserver and what it does is that it listens for variables being passed though html pages on a specific port. As a result if I told eventghost to use port 5050 for this plug in for example then I will be able to trigger a macro whenever I open a browserr and type something like http://localhost:5050?runMacro1 (eventghost will here the variable runMacro1 and I can create a macro whenever this event occures). The problem with this plug is is that I have to wait for the browser to open and it takes some time and if I am working on my computer it will not enable me to keep working because a website will open on my screen and with the previos example creating a file with cmd will enable me to keep me working on whatever I am doing. the good thing about this is that I just need one plug in because I can pass infinite variables such as http://localhost:5050?runMacro1  or http://localhost:5050?runMacro2  or http://localhost:5050?runMacro3 etc.
