The issue i have is..
Even before creating the group roles and user roles...i need to perform a check in the external file, if the roles defined are valid or not (say if there are any typing errors)....if so the script should exit even without creating the group roles also.
Say i'm using the same code as above and WAS 6.1.23
Any suggestion please.

That's right WAS 6.1.0.23
And its not the group roles ..i have them hard coded in the script.
I'm checking only the user roles(for any typing error's) that are defined in an external files with a comma delimiter.
Example: The following would be the pattern in the external file
123456,Administrator,
234567,Configurator,Monito
345678,Operator,Monitor
So what kind of "typing" errors would you like to find?
To check for missing ','?
if str.count( ',' ) == 0 :
print "No comma specified: " + str;
If you want to verify the specific roles, you could use something like:
if role contains the name of the role to be checked, you could easily have something like:

What kind of groups/roles are you talking about?
Do you want to check to see if the group/role is already defined in WebSphere?
btw, WebSphere Application Server version numbers have 4 values, e.g., 6.1.0.23
I presume that this is the version about which you are speaking...
