The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Hi,
Something like this would work. I have not tested this query but try it and correct the syntax error if any.
Breakout your queries so it would be easier to manage them.
If still problem persists, then look at the following link to make correct your query,
http://blog.wekeroad.com/2008/02/27/creating-in-queries-with-linq-to-sql/
Please tell me if still you find problem, I will try working on it,
1:
2:
3:
var firstquery = from permissionids in Page_Permissions where permissionids.Page_ID = 1
		select permissionids.Permission_ID
var secondquery = from pers in Permissions where !firstquery.Contains(pers.Permission_ID)

Hi,

I've tried to match both queries into a signle one :

The code is made with VisualBasic but you can easily translate it!

Hope this helps! Good Luck!

          into res = group _
          From page In res.defaultifempty _
          Where page Is Nothing _
          Select perm

Hi CarlVerret,

Your solution looks like a right outer join, but this does not appear to work because once an element from the permissions table appears at least once in the page_permissions table, even if it is not for page_id = 1, it will not be include in the join since the limiter page_id =1 does not effect until after the join.

It doesn't seem to work, so please let me know if I am not understanding.  Here is the equivilent C# version for reference.  Maybe I am missing something?

                join p in Permissions on pp.Permission_ID equals p.Permission_ID
                into oj from x in oj.DefaultIfEmpty()
                select new
                {
                    PermissionID = x.Permission_ID,
                    PermissionName = x.Permission_Name
                };

Thanks IndianOcean that solution worked.  I would prefer it in a single query but I cannot seem to put that together.

If anyone has any ideas, I would love to hear them.
