The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

line 9:     Private Shipment As ASP.AddShipment

Did you change this to public?

02.15.2008 at 02:26AM PST, ID: 20900547
yes, we did do this, also changed the class of the usercontrol to public.
however, maybe interesting to know:
the system makes the usercontrole "Partial Public class"
the className was also changed to AddShipmentControl, but this didn't change the error. we tried this, so we would be sure the name didn't exist elsewhere.

the codebehind classname is different, we are going to try to change this, but i doubt this will be the problem.

When we added the reference on the calling page, we could actually select AddShipmentControl when trying to declare the new variable like
public Shipment as ASP.
on the dot, we get a list and our control was in it.

CAn you post your code?

02.15.2008 at 04:02AM PST, ID: 20900968
In the usercontrol, the Control Directive has the attribute ClassName set to "AddShipmentControl"
<%@ Control Language="VB" className="AddShipmentControl" AutoEventWireup="false" CodeFile="wucShipment.ascx.vb" Inherits="ShipmentControl" %>

In the page where I want to place the usercontrol I've placed a Reference Directive
<%@ Reference Control="~/Controls/wucShipment.ascx" %>

My code where I want the usercontrol
    Private Shipment As ASP.AddShipmentControl
    Shipment = CType(LoadControl("~\Controls\wucShipment.ascx"), ASP.AddShipmentControl)
    Shipment.ShipmentNo = CType(Request.QueryString("ID"), Int32)
    plhShipment.Controls.Add(Shipment)

--> I can access AddShipmentControl in the namespace ASP.

Building on the local machine: no errors.
Only when I want to publish te website to another machine, these specific error raises

In the msdn you posted in your starting post, it is given:

<%@ Control className="MyUserControl" %>

<%@ Reference Control="MyUserControl.ascx" %>

Both should have the same name. But in your code, you have used different names for both:
                                                                          ********
<%@ Control className="AddShipmentControl" %>

<%@ Reference Control="~/Controls/wucShipment.ascx" %>
                                                                          ********
Shouldn't reference control be:

<%@ Reference Control="~/Controls/AddShipmentControl.ascx" %>

OR  control classname be:

<%@ Control className="wucShipment" %>

Am I missing something here?
