Alternative to VFP ?

Asked by ammounpierre in Visual Studio 2008, FoxPro Database, MS SQL Server

I am a VFP developer of over 10 years. I own a small software company that develops small/medium
applications.
I have tried many many times without success to make "SQL server" & VFP work together..
Whenever I try , first of all I get lost at the technology to use...ADO , ADO.net , etc...
I do know SQL server and how to create databases and stored procedures etc... but whenever it comes to make VFP connect to SQL..I have always failed !
I worked quite some time (but never developed a full app) at VB.net and VB.2005 and I have become "ok" with the concept of it.
but there too...when it came to data and SQL server ...I have stumbled too...
to many technologies and I get lost quite easily...
I have to say for my defence that I do have hectic days usually and that makes things more difficult.
My question to you experts , is what to do ...
VFP is about to be obsolete in few years.. and I have to move...I am already late ! ( Im 42 years old)
I was thinking of moving to ASP.net ..but will it cover all types of application I usually develop ?
(POS - Accounting-Call Center-Stock management ).
I need something , an alternative to VFP that is "learnable" for me !!
thanks a lot guys..Start Free Trial
