The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

WMI in C++ Builder problems

Asked by CSD-GW in C++ Builder, Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI), C++ Programming Language

I have tried to use code from the MS website http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa390423(VS.85).aspx to try and get a list of running processes. I am having two problems. Firstly, the

while (pEnum)
{
.
.
.
}

never exits. I get a list of tasks, and then the final task is constantly repeated.

If I put a count variable in and return from the function (the commented code in the example), then when the function exits, a debugger exception is trown, and I end up with a machine code window sitting at ntdll.DbgBreakPoint
If I place a user breakpoint at the CoUninitialize() line, I stop there normally (when the break line is included), but when I single step out of the function, the above exception is thrown.
Running outside the environment, no exception is thrown, but the iterator never exits as described above.
I am using BCB V6 and OS is XP Pro.

Any guidance as to what I am doing wrong would be greatly appreciated.
I have not been able to try the code from the MS website in Visual Studio.

A possibly (probably) totally unrelated issue is that every time I change and comile/link the code I get an error:
[Linker Fatal Error] Fatal: General error in link set
I simple do it again and it is fine. this only seems to affect this project, others compile normally each time!?!
Thanks.
