the breakpoint will not currently be hit... C++/ATL

I've recently downloaded VS 2008 and have rebuilt a VC 6.0 ATL COM project with no problems. When I try and debug the COM dll, for any breakpoint I try and set, I get the 'breakpoint will not be hit...' message. I've done a fair bit of searching on the net and nothing so far has worked. Can anyone please sort this for me.
