The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Application slows down DLL?

Asked by Sonja_M in Microsoft Visual C++, Windows XP Operating System

Tags: , ,

Hello!

My new developed DLL is going well but now I encountered a very strange behaviour: In my DLL I show a modal dialog, access a scanner to scan some documents and save them on the harddisk in the end. Everything is going well but somehow I have a performance problem.

I have two programms A and B, to access the only entry-point into the dll (which is "int CScanner:ScanDocumnet(CString Filepath)").
programm A is a testprogramm that shows a dialog only, where you can enter a filename and press <start scan>.
programm B is the application where the Scanner is to be used. In programm A my scan takes about 10 seconds, but in programm B  the same procedure takes 3 Minutes! The Processor also seems to be much more in Use than in Programm A (the task manager says in both scenarios 100% - but in programm A windows responds much better).

I think there is probably a linking or dll-loading problem, but I am not very familiar with this. So I would like to ask for your help.

Thank you

Sonja

Some more usefull information:
- The DLL is linked in via a lib file
- Actually the Scanner.DLL is linked into a Util.DLL which is linked into the programm B.exe
- The DLL is a MFC-extended DLLStart Free Trial
