I am trying to come to grips with using the Infragistics UltraGrid control for .NET 2005. To say that the documentation is sketchy would be an exaggeration. Does anyone have any good resources that get into the details of how to make use of this very powerful Grid control?

1) Which version are you using?
2) I haven't found any definitive sources for Infragistics stuff.
3) What are you having problems with?

I have looked at the Tutorials that are part of the installation, and that has helped quite a bit. Also, I am on a team where another member has a bit of a head start on me, so we are learning together, and basically teaching each other as we go along. This part of the project is not due until the end of the summer, so we have a bit of time to learn.
I have also looked at the Infragistics web-site, and looked at the Knowledge base, especially projects that include sample code, and that has also helped.

My company started using Infragistics and ran upon the same problem. We've had to learn through lots of trial and error... not exactly the quickest way of acquiring knowledge :)
Personally, I've found the Infragistics Help Center and Sample Browser to be the best source of knowledge. It's basically like reading MSDN examples, but it's a fair place to start. The Infragistics DevCenter website leaves a lot to be desired for me because the search ability on the website is a little wishy-washy.
TheLearnedOne>> It is not so much that I am having any problems, per se, but rather trying to get a grasp on what the HUGE number of properties and methods can do, and how to implement them. Also, I find it intriguing that Infragistics has their own enumerations for such values as True or False, so setting a property such as
Me.ultraGrid1.DisplayLayou
requires the use of their enumeration, since
Me.ultraGrid1.DisplayLayou
(which somehow seem 'logical') fails.

1) Infragistics pumps out illogical stuff. I used the ActiveTreeView with VB6 for years, so I should know.
2) Using enumerations would make sense if there was a tri-state, and not just true and false. I wouldn't want to crawl inside the developers' brains to try to figure that one out.
3) I have suffered the same headaches that you have. I am using the Telerik controls with my new assignment, and I much more impressed with those.

I share in your frustration. I purchased the who Infragistics Net Advantage suite. I use many of their controls, but gave up on the UltraGrid for the very reason you sited. I ended up using Farpoints Spread and it like it very much. It has a nice set of features and the support is very good. http://www.fpoint.com
