Question

I need to know where to start to investigate a Java.io.fileOutputStream.write(Unknown Source) error. What does this error mean.

Below is the actual error I received on July 02, 2008.  I am using eFTP Client from Verizon to download some files from an eFTP website, but something changed that caused it to fail.  What does this Java error joblog mean, and where do I start to investigate.

Most likely means that the FTP HOST URL has changed and your application can no longer find it.

Do you know if this actually means that changes were made on my side of the application or configuration?

I heard or read somewhere that when you see OUTPUTSTREAM.WRITE*Unknown Source), that usually means something changed on my end.  What are your thoughts?

at java.io.FileOutputStream.write(Unknown Source)

is merely a output stream that's flowing from a source (could be an input stream / file / etc) to another destination. Assuming if your output stream refers to the bytes you are writing to disk (after reading from FTP using an input stream), then yes the problem would be on your end.

Jeff, thanks for your answer.  I was able to research from my end and found several issues which I have passed for further examination.  Just knowing where to start got me going on where to go, your answer did provide a starting point which is what I needed.  Thanks again for the support.
