Localization: accessing .properties files that are in JAR file

I am using
BIRT v2.1.3v20070705-1847
BEA Workshop for Weblogic 10.1
Eclipse Platform v3.2.2

This is my first Java project so I have no experience with these tools.

My question is, when using the report designer, how do I access my .properties files if they are in a JAR?

I add the JAR under the resource option, but when I attempt to localize an element on the report, the Select Key dialog is empty.

sadlermd,

when creating a java project i have found that the best way to implement contents of a .jar is to add the .jar as an external library to the projects build path. To do that, in eclipse, right click on the project and select build path and then external libraries. Follow the instructions to add the .jar. You should then notice it listed as part of your project in the package explorer view.

You will have to load the resource manualyl by gettign the classloader of a class already in the jar file and then use

<class>.getClassLoader().getResourceAsStream(<resource name>);

I dont have any experience with the BIRT Report Designer. I know that you can accomplish it the way that i suggested, there seems to be a lot of information on the eclipse site regarding the BIRT Report Designer: http://www.eclipse.org/birt/phoenix/

Sorry for not replying earlier: I am not on the project any longer so I was unable to research the solutions that were offered in any detail.
