.Net WebService sending XML to Powerbuilder client

Asked by Sanmarie in PowerBuilder Programming Language, .NET, Visual Studio .NET 2005

Using .NET 2.0, vb.net, VS 2005

I'm a newbie to webservices and the more I read, the more I get confused. I developed a webservice in ASP.NET 2005 that is read by a Powerbuilder (PB) 9.0 client. When the webmethod returns a string, the PB client works. When the webmethod returns a .NET XMLDocument type, I can't even create a proxy on the PB client. Below is a sample code of what I want to return.

I thought all applications understood XML. So I thought if I return an XML document from .Net webservice then the PB client should be able to read it. Am I misguided? Please help me!
