I also remember them complaining about K-Lite codeck pack, so if you choose to change it - don;t go for that one :D

Browse All TopicsHi all - I'm trying to setup Tversity on my PC to act as a media Server so I can watch all of my movie files from my computer to my TV. I get it all setup fine, get the Ps3 to see my PC, but when I play back an AVI, I get garbled sound. I did a few websearches, and they recommend replacing codex's, changing AC3 settings, etc - All which I have done with no luck.
the AVI files work like a charm when I just watch them on my PC, so I know the sound is good - I just dont understand how codex's and such work - could someone enlighten me on this, please?
Does someone have another program that does this and it work?

Mega, Just to be sure I understand - I would go in Device manager, under sound, video and game controllers - double click audio codec's, click properties and remove all of those? I'm just trying to verify because with each one it tells me it is needed for windows - I don't want to click the wrong one.
I would Uninstall all of those, and then run a new codec pack? (I saw people having luck with CCC's or somesuch)
Thanks
You dont have to go to Device Manager.
if you don't have any "codec Packs" installed than it should be ok. If you have installed your codecs manually - like install "divx" or "xvid" codec from a separate install file than you will need to go to Control panel - Add and Remove programs.
After you will Unistall all possible Codecs. Try to go to :
http://www.free-codecs.com
on the left side you will see all the "Codeck Packs" list. They are the main ones, but I'm sure there are loads more if you fancy little bit of research. Now ust pick ONE, downalod and install.
If something is still not right with the Audio then Uninstall the Pack, restart the PC and do it all over again with a differnet Codeck Pack. As mentioned before od different PC's there will be different resaults so you might have to try few before you will get it sorted.

You said you have tried to reinstall the codecs , but did you tru to totally uninstall them and install a different pack ? I heard from few mates this helped them.
They also tried to reinstall same codecs they already had - with no luck. But as soon as they changed the PC's codec pack to a different one - bingo ! :P
Worth a try
