I was afraid that would be my answer. Can you suggest a high quality converter that doesn't cost much? Maybe even a free one? I've tinkered with a couple here and there and they always seem to screw up my clips.

Microsoft provides a Media Converter to convert just about everything to WMA or WMV.

* Windows Media Encoder Series 9
I'm not for or against Microsoft here as in this is the best product to use. I only mention this being that you want this to work on a Microsoft Xbox 360, so using their own tools to convert it to that format, I would find as the most logical.
Jstncase,
This did not work. I keep receiving an error message:
"file.rmvb is not a valid source file. It may have an unsupported or invalid format or may be corrupted.
One or more codecs required to open this content could not be found. (0xC00D1B83)
Enter a different file name before continuing"
Any more ideas?
My setup is a bit hacked up, as i have tons of items installed for development, coding and more, and may have something installed that allows that to work for me. Here is a site i have referred to on several occassions that may be helpful. There are tons of programs out thereto convert, shareware and more. Hopefully this article may be able to provide some further assistance, or another expert here can provide additional information.

I use WinAvi and I am yet to find a file that it can't convert.

As long as RM and quicktime codecs are installed you shouldn't have any issues.
I'm using Tversity to stream to my Xbox360 maybe you could try this i'm not sure if it works with RM, but you can give it a try. But Xvid and Divx, FLV will work, TVersity can transcode videos before it streams to your Xbox. More info here: http://tversity.com/. This is more useful than the MediaCenter functionality. You can also add a Video RSS feeds from Youtube and lots more.

From Xbox 360 website: rosoft.com /kb/925916 ?sd=xbox
ke sure that you use one of the following compression formats for any files that you want to use on an Xbox 360 console: WMV
http://support.mic
Ma
WMA
MP3
MPEG2
MPEG4-Part 2, Simple Profile, and Advanced Simple Profile Note These files are often referred to as Xvid or DivX video files.
Note These file formats are the only file formats that are supported by Xbox 360 consoles.
The following media file types are not compatible with the Xbox 360 console: QuickTime
iTunes

Short answer is not possible without converting the files.
