DirectShow Decoder Filter

Hi All,

I am developing an MPEG-2 decoder transform filter. I use libmpeg2 decoder library and class CVideoTransformFilter().

I need some help regarding the timing and quality management of the rendered stream.
I am relatively new to the DX technology and filters.

In DirectX SDK 8.0, it is said that CVideoTransformFilter(), will itself do everything about timing and stuff. But I dont find it so.

At present, the frames are displayed as such, as and when they are decoded. They must be in sync with Audio stream with proper timing.
How can I go about this? Can anyone pls give some pointers ?

I believe I know what you're talking about, and although I've not tried to sync up a custom filter myself, I will look it up and see if anything strikes me.  The last video rendering I did, the audio was negligible, it was very easy that way :)

Well, I looked through all the timing and syncing info I could and didn't find anything to directly control the sync of audio to video.  I did find ways to set the sync reference time, but I'm not sure that would change anything.

Can you play this video in any other player?  I only know you can set the master stream to audio when configuring the AVI Mux so that the audio stream is sampled to keep up with the video.  Are you sure that the audio and video ARE synced up correctly?

Hi,

Even I am not sure exactly how the sync and timing should be done after going thru the DX SDK documentation.

Overriding the AlterQuality(...) function sure makes changes in speed of rendering. So something should be done in that part. (I guess)

Yes, I can play the sample perfectly on WinDVD and even on Windows Media Player with MoonLight's decoder filter installed.

Hi,

How about the timing/quality control if the file is video only? Lets forget the Audio part for the moment.
i.e if play length is 10 seconds, the video file should play properly for 10seconds.

Filter graph

File Source->MPEG-2 splitter->MyMPEG2Decoder->VideoRenderer

1. File Source has MPEG-2 Video only file
2. Whether Audio is present or not, Splitter comes in the scene.

It's been a while since I looked at these :-/  There's a book out there that involves writing transform filters but I don't have it.
