Hi I am looking for a C/C++ graphics library that is comprehensive and also has transition effects including "page turning", "fading" etc.

The library must be open source so that it can be ported. Hopefully uses opengl.

Transition effects are typically features of video editors or NLE - non linear editors, like Adobe's Premiere.

Transitions like fades, wipes, etc. are used in post-production, say after you have your scenes already finished, but not in sequence, just stand alone pieces. A NLE will join the pieces and allow the transitions.

Anyway, if you want that effects embeded in your game, you can find inspiration in NLE programs, as Kino, a Linux NLE at http://www.kinodv.org/article/static/8
where you'll find a commented source code, very well coded.

Also, Jahshaka, a NLE mixed to OpenGL, at
