Unable to join game, Age of the Empires II: Conquerors Edition
My friend and I get all the way into the AOE main menu screen and we can see eachother's games, we click "Join Game", and it waits for a few seconds and says "Unable to Join Game". What should we do? p.s. - We want it to work over Hamachi.
Well I have concluded a few things about my question: 1) - It's truly a tough one if you guys can't even answer it. 2) - Or, maybe you guys just answer those who sign up for Corporate accounts (why would I?)
I got it to work for the first time then it has stopped working for me
what me and my friend did was disable firewalls connected bot the machine via hamachi in the router gave the ip of the machine to be in DMZ and had hamachi with network priority high seached for the gave over internet using my friends ip and was able to join his game
but the very steps mentioned above has stopped working for me... it wierd..
what kind of firewall you have??just the windows firewall or some other program like zone alarm?..if u have something like zonealarm you have to reduce the security level then shut it down.
Yeah, I would make sure you're not running any 3rd party firewall like symantec or zone alarm. Also, you might have to add permissions to your router. Most newer routers have a drop down list that you just select the program name ex: age of empires 3. BTW, Age 3 is awesome! Upgrade.
I'm not running any firewalls. I have the latest patch for AOE II. I have port forwarding set in the router as well as placed my computer in a DMZ. I also set the port forwards. I've turned off plug n play. I've tried playing at ALL of the matchmaker sites: www.gamepark.eu , etc. and it STILL doesn't work.
I still get the same message ANY way I try to connect: "Unable to Join Game"
Here is a possible solution: SYMPTOMS When you try to host an Internet multiplayer game of Microsoft Age of Empires II Expansion: The Conquerors, other players may be unable to join the game.
CAUSE This behavior may occur if more than one network interface card is installed in your computer. When you click IP Address on the Multiplayer Game screen in Age of Empires II Expansion: The Conquerors, the game may report an incorrect Internet Protocol (IP) address.
RESOLUTION If your guest players are unable to use this IP address to connect to your game, use the IP Configuration tool included with Microsoft Windows to determine the IP address for the network interface card that you want to use for the game.
To do this, follow these steps: 1. Click Start, and then click Run. 2. In the Open box, type winipcfg, and then click OK. 3. In the unlabeled box, click the network interface card that you want to use to host the game.
Note If you want to use a dial-up Internet connection to host the game, click PPP Adapter. 4. In the IP Address box, note the IP address for the network interface card, and then click OK. 5. Provide the IP address that you noted in step 4 to your guest players. The guest players should now be able to connect to the game that you are hosting.
