Browse All TopicsI'm developing a car game applet to see what I have so far got to http://home.pacific.net.au
The problems I’m having at the moment are when the cars collide. Working out the refected velocity is easy however when car1 enters car2, car1 has to then be placed outside car2; this is where problems are occurring. I can’t find which car to move and where to place the car. As you can see the car gets stuck or is placed in the wrong place.
I've tries a couple of methods such as creating a line with the last points the cars corners were at and the next point the corners will be at and if this line intersects on the 4 lines that makes up another car the car is place at the point the lines intercept.
I’ve also tried to track if any of the 4 corners of one car enters the polygon of the other car (this is how the block in the middle works)
Also I’ve tested if any of the 4 lines that make up one car intercept any of the 4 lines that make up another car.
I don’t know maybe the way I’m doing its wrong, any suggestions would be great, I’m running out of ideas, when I started this game I didn’t think I would be come mathematical complex and I’ve gotten to far to give up now !!
What i really want to know if how complex the code is going to be, like do i have to have a case for differnt locations on the screen and differnt directions ect ect
