Browse All TopicsIn my spare time I like to play a bit online. I like to play Call of Duty. I have been building my own little Call of Duty server monitor/rcon tool app. It started out pretty small and as I have played online, I added the features I wanted to use. The next feature I want to add is the ability to search for servers to add to the monitoring end of my app.
Call of Duty has the usual ingame list ability, but lacks any sort of search functions.

I can currently query a specific server. Send Rcon commands to it etc etc.
Does anyone know how I can query a master list type server? I'd like to send a query and receive a list of servers based on the criteria. Sort of like All Seeing Eye does with their custom filtering.
It's a quick 500 points for anyone who can give me a master servername/ip to query, along with one quick, working example query.
BTW I am working in VB6.

If the actual game doesn't support it, I don't know if it will be possible.
You could run a packet sniffer on the game itself, and look at what server the game queries and how it works. If they aren't using a standard protocol (which is likely) you'll probably end up having to reverse engineer the protocol they use.
Once you figure out how the game gets its server list, though, you'll be able to index it locally and then query your own information. Chances are, the game just asks for a list of servers, and the server spits them out with no filtering at all.
