The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

multiple new on the same Reference

Hie all,

In my code i've done this (I know you don't have the full code, but may be someone would understand something without all the code)

    ICard& c2c = * new Card52 ( ClassicalCard::KING, ClassicalCard::DIAMOND );
    cout << "c2c:" << c2c << endl;

    c2c = * new Card52 ( ClassicalCard::QUEEN, ClassicalCard::DIAMOND );
    cout << "c2c:" << c2c << endl;

//default values are nor KING nor QUEEN
the ouput of this is:

   c2c:[KD]
   c2c:[KD]

as the second new couldn't affect the variable!! (that's my problem)

But if i do this
       #include <iostream>

       using namespace std;

       class A {
           public:
               explicit A ( int i ) : m_i ( i ) {
               }
               virtual ~A ( ) {
               }
               void foo ( void ) {
                   cout << "A::foo::m_i :\t" << m_i << endl;
               }
               int m_i;
       };

       int main()
       {
           A a = * new A ( 0 );
           a.foo ( );
           a = * new A ( 1 );
           a.foo ( );
           return 0;
       }

I get the folowing output:
       A::foo::m_i :   0
       A::foo::m_i :   1

This time the second new is ok!!!!

BUT from:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reference_(C%2B%2B)
[...]
Once a reference is created, it cannot be later made to reference another object; it cannot be reseated. This is often done with pointers.
[...]

so if i do a "FOO& f = * new someything"  am i able to do again "f = * new something" or not???

I can't understand why my program [card52] does not function properly (it seems, the c2c reference point always the same object even after the second new)
But if i try the example above with class A i don't have the same comprtment, as i was able to do any number of new on the same variable
Could someone explain me those thing?
