Blackberry Messages Disappearing from Inbox

I have three 7230 blackberry users that were recently upgraded to 4.0.  I am having a problem with one of the users in where after he reads e-mail on his blackberry, the older read messages disappear from his inbox at random.  The device is set to sync with the mailbox, with the mailbox always winning.  This is obviously frustrating to him as he'll usually read messages and reply to them later, but when going to back to reply to them, they are no longer there.

The only thing close to this problem I found online was due to the blackberry storage space being too low.  As far as I know, this is setup just like the other two and should not have storage problems.

Haven't seen this one before. How random is it and are only read emails disapearing? What are the general email and the email reconciliation settings?
Also have you checked the memory on the device? Depending on the amount of emails he get's it can have different results to the other two users if they get less emails. If he really doesn't have any memory problems then I would just suggest to remove and re-add him and do a new enterprise activation and see what that does.

Well, I guess it is not too random since it is happening on a daily basis, and yes it is only happening to read e-mails.  The e-mail settings are set for wireless syncronization with the mailbox winning on conflicts.

I will have to check the memory again to verify that he has enough.  He does get quite a bit of e-mail.  If their does not seem to be a memory problem, I may have to try removing and re-adding.

If it does happen on a daily basis e.g. today all emails from Monday disappeared and tomorrow all emails from Tuesday and so on then it most definitely is a memory problem and the device is just purging old emails. In extreme cases one or two of our users only ever where able to keep 2 days worth of email on their BlackBerry before we stripped down the installed apps to the bare minimum.
As the 7230 only has 16 MB of memory I would suggest removing any apps your user doesn't need like additional languages, password keeper, help, brick breaker etc.
That should take care of the problem.

Ok, thanks.  It is possible that they spell checker I installed may be causing the problem.  Although, I do not know why I am not having the same problem on mine.  He is out of the office today, but I will try that tomorrow and let you know.

Here is an excerpt: "The Low Memory Manager is activated automatically when the available flash memory on the handheld decreases to less than 400KB. Flash memory is used to store handheld applications such as Messages, Calendar, Address Book, Tasks, MemoPad, and third party application data.
By removing rarely used applications and old data you can increase the amount of memory on your handheld."

Ok, thanks for the comments.  I removed the spell check application that was recently put on the device and a few other things like brickbreaker.  I will monitor to see what happens and if there is any continuing problems.  I will keep you updated.
