The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Setting up Blackberry Express with Exchange 2003

Asked by peterkennedy in Blackberry Programming

Hi there,

We are a small organisation with our own Exchange 2003 server and one user who has a Blackberry.

We use the Exchange 2003 server to host our local mail and calendar functions, and clients send and receive external mail from the ISP via Outlook 2003 which in turn then gets stored in the Exchange 2003 mailbox store for each user.

I have downloaded Blackberry Express and have configured a separate Windows 2003 server PC that will act as my Blackberry Enterprise Server with one CAL for the user with the Blackberry.

The setup instructions appear quite straight forward (although I am yet to go ahead and implement them).

What I am confused/unsure about is if I set all this up correctly, how does our Blackberry Enterprise Server (which will be hooked into our Exchange 2003 server) "know" where to forward email to the Blackberry?  I am assuming that the BES software sends this email somewhere to the outside world but from there, (ie once it leaves our organisation) what happens?  Does the software "find" the Blackberry via its unique code?  Does it go to a central Blackberrry server and forwarded from there?  How does it transfer onto the mobile phone network in order to get to the Blackberry?  With our own BES, is there anything we have to do from the carrier end?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Pete
