The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Blackberry BES, Exchange 2000/2003, cross domain communications problem

Asked by jvanvaler in Blackberry Programming

We have installed BlackBerry Enterprise Server(BES) v.4.1 on a Windows 2003 Server (Standard) that acts as a DC.  We are using the BES with TWO exchange servers.

- Exchange Server 1 (2003) is on the SAME domain as the BES
- Exchange Server 2 (2000) is on a DIFFERENT domain, but with a two way trust to the above domain.  (Windows 2000 native mode domains, trust is verified both ways)

The BESAdmin account was created on the first domain, given apprpriate store and delegate permissions to BOTH exchange servers (domains are trusted both ways).
The service works fine for users from the first domain, but NOT for users from the second domain.  In other words, users with an Exchange account in the first domain can send/receive to/from their Blackberries.  Users in the second domain, where there Exchange account is in a different domain than the BES, have not communications to/from their Blackberries.  The one relevant piece of log follows,

--------------------------------
{joe.smith@mycompany.com} MAPIMailbox::MAPIMailbox(2) - OpenMsgStore (0x8004011d) failed, MailboxDN=/o=USA/ou=First Administrative Group/cn=Recipients/cn=BatesSN, ServerDN=/o=USA/ou=First Administrative Group/cn=Configuration/cn=Servers/cn=EXCH_SVR/cn=Microsoft Private MDB

--------------------------------
immediately followed by the following event,
--------------------------------

User Smith, Joe not started
----------------------------

According to BlackBerry support,

"You are Advised  that the MAPI error of 0x8004011d is an Exchange permissions issue or an issue with the two-way trust between the two domains."
