How to block the blackberry browser (BES)

Is there a way (Policy) to block blackberry users of using the blackberry browser from the handheld? they will still be using the internet browser.

What version of BES are you using?

Internet Browsing is allowed by default and the IT Policy item to remove that browser is "Enable WAP Config = FALSE"

BlackBerry Browser is allowed by dfault and the IT Policy item to remove that broswer is "Allow IBS Browser = FALSE"

Is there a reason why you want to disable the free internet (Via your BES internet connection) and leave the charged WAP internet running?

We have BES 4.0, and I don't see in IT policy where I can enter "Allow IBS Browser = FALSE" under Brower Policy Group.

In the IT Policy the ""Allow IBS Browser" is under Browser Policy Group.  It you don't have this option download and install Service Pack 5a.
In BES 4.0 you need to open BlackBerry Manager on the server.  Once open you will see your server name on the left hand side listed under BlackBerry Manager, just right mouse click your server name and then select IT POLICY.

As I stated above, under Browser Policy Group, I don' thave "Allow IBS Bowser"option, I may need to install SP 5a as you (Garycutri) suggested.
Yes, it must have been added during one of the service packs.

Here is the link to the SP download area:

I hope there is a way to rollback if there is an issue after the installation of the SP5a.
After SP 5a you are most likely to find your system runs faster and has more options, not to mention all the bug fixes.  Just make sure you install the update under the correct logon, check the username assigned to the BlackBerry services. Also check the BES permissions in Exchange system manager to confirm you are installing under the account assigned to the BES.

Should I install Microsoft Data Access Components Ver 2.8 Sp1 prior to SP 5a.
If you have Server 2003 on your BES you will require Server 2003 SP1 and MDAC 2.8 SP1 is installed automatically part of that update.  If you have Windows Server 2000 you will need at least SP4 and you will have to install MDAC 2.8 SP1 if it isn't already installed.

This one: BlackBerry Browser is allowed by default and the IT Policy item to remove that broswer is "Allow IBS Browser = FALSE"
remed the internet Browser instead of the Blackberry Browser.

The other one did not do anything: Internet Browsing is allowed by default and the IT Policy item to remove that browser is "Enable WAP Config = FALSE"

THANKS, it worked.

This is what I did because I had a memory leak too.
Update Windows 2003 to SP1.
Install all critical/security updates.
Installed BES Sp5a
Installed BES SP5 Hot Fix 3
Installed on the BES Exchange SP2
Finally did you suggested settings and it worked, Thanks again Gary.
