The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

BES wireless sync to public folder

Asked by internetcreations in Blackberry Programming

Tags: public, blackberry, sync, bes, folder

We have a client with a central Exchange public folder calendar.  They want the public calendar to sync to the handhelds instead of the individual calendars.  This was previously addressed in Q_22063987 (http://www.experts-exchange.com/Programming/Wireless_Programming/Blackberry/Q_22063987.html), but the accepted solution there does not make sense, nor does it work when implemented.

In Q_22063987, it says:

******************
Public Calendar Example

* It is assumed you already have a Calendar in a public folder. You need to have BlackBerry Desktop Manager installed on your desktop.

1. Ensure your shared calendar has permissions to allow BlackBerry users to access
2. Open Desktop Manager
3. Select "Intellisync" and then "configure pim"
4. Select "Calendar" and click "choose"
5. click "Browse" (at the bottom) and then choose the calendar in your public folder
******************

If you're syncing wirelessly, your PIM sync for Calendar should be set to Blackberry Wireless Sync.  When you get to step 4 above, there is no Browse button for wireless sync.  If you switch the choice from BWS to Outlook, then you'll have a Browse button and you can select a public folder.  However, when that configuration is saved, you'll notice that in the handheld's calendar's Options menu, Wireless Synchronization is now set to Off.  If you switch it back on and check your settings just changed in Desktop Manager, you'll see that the Calendar PIM sync is now set back to Blackberry Wireless Sync.

What's up with that?  Am I doing something wrong (I find it hard to believe I am), or was an unconfirmed solution accepted in Q_22063987?
