"When you do wireless activation you enter an email address and a password. When you submit this it sends a message to the email address you entered. If this message is being blocked or altered the BES server cannot pick it up out of the information store because it cannot find it."
What would be the domain name of the senders address? Is it some default Blackberry domain? If so they it would be a good idea to make that an "approved sender" on your email system.
FYI: I am having the same issue and not sure if it is because the person had to swap phoes or the email thing. I asked the person to verify with their carrier that everything was setup correctly in their system.
We have just had this exact issue with a new Blackberry Curve 8310 Smartphone and the device was not receiving a connection via GPRS. If you look at the screen the letters GPRS on the right hand side of the screen should be in capitals - if they are in lowercase then the device has not been enabled for data use by the provider.
An additional point is that if you've just transferred to a previously used handhand, you might not be registered with the data network, despite having a plan, etc. In my case, on a transfer I just did between a Bell Mobility (Canada, CDMA) 8703e to a 8800 World phone, I had to go into Options, Advanced, Host Routing Table, hit the menu key and select "Register Now". A few minutes later, a message popped up in the email applet saying "Your device is now registered.".
Now when I retry my Enterprise activation, it works just fine.
My data plan was correct and I had already had it setup on the same BB and number.
my user got frustrated with it not connecting after I did a restore of a corrupt data store and she was not a user at the time of the restore point.
She then tried connecting through the internet service.
After deleting her account on the BES and pulling the batt on her phone all synced fine.
