Question

How do I set up email with Blackberry Curve 8310...I have tried the methods prescribed to no avail.

I have gone through set up wizard twice and tried every other instructino I have found on Blackberry forums.  I receive the message, "no message services configured."

Do you have a BES-server? or do you use a BIS account?
Is your Sim-card RIM-enabled?

When you have a BES-server, did you set an activation password?

Can you also try this:
re-connect to your Desktop Manager and generate a new encryption key...

     I believe I have set up Blackberry Internet Service

Is your Sim-card RIM-enabled?
     How would I know?  Its brand new from ATT -came with the Blackberry 8310,

When you have a BES-server, did you set an activation password?

Can you also try this:

      I see no place in Desktop Manager where I can do what you are recommending

The problem is caused either by a corrupt service book or a corrupt encryption key.

To resend your service book from bis:
 Go to any computer with a web browser.
 Login to your webclient of your BIS
 Click "Send service book"
 Click "Send Internet Browsing Service Book"

To regenerate the encryption key (this is the procedure for BB's on a BES):
Goto Settings/Options then open Security Options.
Now select General Settings and scroll to the last line: Desktop [number] (3DES) and click on the wheel.


The desktop manager is a tool that can be downloaded from RIM.

I have tried the send service book several times to no avail
I see no option "Send Internet Browsing Service Book"

I have desktop manager that I installed from a disk that came witih the phone, however there is nothing about setting up email or anything you have described in the menu of DM

I just ran a device diagnostics report and it shows "No" under Blackberry Registration, Connected to Blackberry, and Blackberry Pin-Pin

Can you verify with at&t that your sim card is RIM enabled?
Can you also check with them that the BIS account is set up properly?  (and activated on the BB?)
I've always worked with BES...

Believe it or not, At&t had simply failed to activate my Blackberry service...I never thought to go back that far.  It's active now and all is working fine.
