The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Wish to move to app development for mobile phones - which platform is recommended?

Tags: nokia, windows mobile, android, linux, mobile java
I wish to x-train in application development on mobile phones.
I assume using Mobile Java / J2ME is the way to go.
Don't yet have much experience with Java yet.
Please suggest decent websites that can provide the best info for this.

In your opinion, which platform has most promising future?
I'm considering Blackberry, Nokia-Symbian, Windows CE, Android-Linux

I am freelancer/contractor programmer so I am interested in a platform with a good market.
Also am very excited at the potential for interesting applications.

Had thought of this about 6 years ago<sigh>.
Finally, now wish to plan a path to achieve the necessary skills.

Which of these platforms offer a good training platform?
I accept I may need to move to another platform later on as the market evolves but would obviously prefer to get the most out of my first platform.
I want to use Java, not C++ or C#

Are good development tools / environments easily available?
Can I develop and test on a PC?

I like the idea of Android (ie Linux based standards backed by weight of Google) but realise it may take time to arrive and I'll need to learn Linux first.

I like Blackberry as I'd like one of their phones for personal use ( sadly not the best way to choose a dev platform).
Am not sure of the size of the Blackberry app market or how accessible it is to a self-trained freelancer.

I like Nokia but am uncertain about it's development tools. Are these easily available?

Not sure about Win CE. Is it a big market?
