Renaming BES Servers
Hi
We are running BES 4.1.5 with SQL 2005 backend on a dedicated SQL Box, SQL1.
Our two BES servers are currently named BES10 and BES15.
We would like to rename them EMEA-BES1 and EMEA-BES2
I have heard that even if the actual server is renamed, the Blackberry Manager doesnt update the name and this can cause issues.
Can anyone confirm the best method to rename these servers?
Thanks

You should be able to rename the Windows Servers, but after completing this, you would have to edit the SQL tables, and replace all the old servers names with the new ones.
The name of the physical server means little to BES... it cares about the INSTANCE name of BES running on it. You should be able to rename the server w/ no issues, then when you want update SQL.

So we just rename the instance in SQL? There is nothing more involved?
And renaming the server is just the usual method of renaming the server, it has no impact on BES apart from the reboot (and delay after when it processes the mailboxes)?

Thanks ALogvin, appreciate you taking the time to find this out.
I agree, it's far too risky to rename in SQL ;)
