How do I keep my BlackBerry Desktop Manager from being shut down by Microsoft Windows XP?

My BlackBerry Desktop manager worked fine until a few days ago.  Now almost every time it opens, Microsoft Windows XP says there is an error and shuts it down.  I have installed and reinstalled BlackBerry 4.2.2.  I have looked at the two forums suggested, but the solutions suggested do not work for me.  Please help.  Thank you.

Try to do a system restore back to sometime system worked good ...

I was not clear in my question.  When it worked, I had it on another computer and then installed and reinstalled it on this new one. Also sometimes I can get it to open, but most of the time the error message appears and it shuts down.

Desktop Manager 4.7 (actually I think 5 is out now) should be downloaded, and try the install on this one....

Once the older one is uninstalled, might need to use an app like Revo to fully remove it.....

Can you get us a screenshot of the error please?

How do I get to download Destop manager 4.7?
What is Revo and how do I get it?

Umm... I dont think the Desktop Manager uses the filename Desktop.exe....

Hit CTRL+PrintScreen, and hit start>run>mspaint, hit CTRL+V, then save the document.

The weird thing is that sometimes Desktop manager opens properly, but most of the time windows shuts it down or it comes up with a blue taskbar but no icons in the white space.  in this last case, the hourglass appears but nothing happens so eventually I try to close which i can only do by CNTRL+ALT+DELETE.

I have not loaded 4.7 because I read on Google that some people felt that it did not work well with my BlackBerry Curve 8310.

We use anywhere from 4.2 to 4.7 and now even 5, If the app isnt opening flly, to just a white window, that might be a scripting problem with the OS itself. Used to have a problem with Symantec doing this, pulling up an empty window.....

Try the uninstall though, and see what happens. The WSH upgrade to 5.7, just rebuilds whats already built into your OS....

What am I to uninstall and how do I find it (Control panel- add and remove programs?)?  I appreciate your help. I have to leave the office now so that I will not get back to this until Sunday evening.  Hopefully we can continue then.

Thank you very much for your assistance.  Taking off from your observation that the problem may be with the operating system not coordinating with the Desktop manager, I installed Blackbery 5.0 and the problem has seemed to go away.

I found the solution otherwise.  My new computer's operating system did not work with older BlackBerry Desk Managers so I downloadedc BlackBerry 5.0 and now it works fine.
