Simple and General Question on PDA software

Hi ,

i am a very new user and programmer to pda , i have a quite old pda , handspring visor . I have 3 questions regardsing it , so please be patient with me since i am a BRAND new user and programmer.

1- I do not have the HotSynchronization cable , so Can i use the IR on my Laptop to communicate with pda (transfering programs, data,....)

2- What programming language to use with pda , is it Visual Basic , Visual C++ ( actually , i am good at Visual basic and Visual c++ 6 ) , so , can i use them to write code for my pda.

3- i want to use a simple Excel application for it , so are there any FREE excel application to work with it ( i found Quicksheet very well but not for free ) or to have a crack of older versions that is obselete now.
