I just ran the auto update function for MS2000 that pops up occassionally, and now can't access the datebook.dat files for Palm desktop (i no longer use the handheld, so don't have any backup data there). The error message reads: "Error: failed to open Date Book Database". I've reloaded with the latest palm desktop software and the address data is reading, but not the datebook. When I try to import it will only read the .dba files.
How can I access the datebook.dat files directly?
thanks,
ian

I just had this happen to me yesterday.
ses\addres ses.dat. Replace the one that is there with your backup copy. The next time you sync, it wil have all your old addresses in it.
First sync your new handheld, pick a name, etc.
That will create a folder in C:\Program Files\Palm -- in my situation is made a subfolder named James. I went to that subfolder and restored my old backup data. Addresses.dat goes in C:\Program Files\Palm\Username\addres
If this isn't working out for you, it's possible you have more then one user or profile registered on your machine. Sync your handheld, then search for the addresses.dat file with the latest change date.
I have a Palm III and IIIc and this worked for me today.
