Multiple Problems Installing and Hotsyncing Sony Clie PEG-NR70V in Windows XP
I'm installing to a Toshiba laptop with Windows XP. It had a previous version of Palm Desktop since I have another PDA. I chose a different user name as I was told to do when installing more than one PDA and then I let it upgrade. I'm getting multiple frustrating errors when trying to install the palm software that came with the Clie NR70V. I even got the same errors when I tried it on another computer that did not have previous Palm Desktop software. Going to the website for a patch as suggested in another answer does no good, since I would first need to be able to Hotsync to get the patches. Please help. Thanks in advance. Below are the errors:
Palm Desktop.
1) An installation support file 'C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\{ba0f44c2
could not be installed.
Access is denied.
OK
2) The other error said the above plus some other letters and numbers and said "cannot access the file because it is being used by another process."
3) Later with Documents to Go installation I get 2 more errors saying: Documents To Go
An installation support file 'C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\{c89c4bea
could not be installed.
Access is denied.
OK
4) When trying to install Documents To Go I get an error about notepad saying:
Palm Desktop
Error: note pad.exe module cannot be found.
OK
5) When attempting to Hotsync it tries to start then immediately stops and the log says:
HotSync operation started 03/06/04 19:54:30
HotSync Error:
An application failed to respond to a
HotSync notification. Please check the Palm Desktop for details. (8009)
HotSync operation complete 03/06/04 19:54:30
