Question

Blackberry Calendar appointments not updating with Outlook

Asked by: jcollazo81

Hi yesterday we installed a patch for DST on our Exchange server. We upgraded cod as well to 6.5.7651.61 Service pack 2. We upgrade our BES Server as well to 4.0.7.8.

Now for some reason every user is having an issue with there blackberry everytime someone tries to add a new appointment on there BB it will not show up on there Outlook 2003 or 2007. But if they add an appointment on there Outlook it will update on his or her Blackberry. But the other way around won't work. Syn is turned on and this use to work... Any ideas?

Also from the event log i got:

Event ID: 20216

{MYEMAIL@EMAIL.com} Synchronize() failed: ERR_FAIL, Tag=3024864

Thanks

Make sure your cdo.dll and mapi32.dll is the same version on your BES server as your Exchange server.  Although judging by the log file you will probably need to check your permissions for your BES account.  It looks like it does not have permissions to the calendar.

I have been there before.
Here is a link that will tell you what to do.  Basically everything should pretty much be done in the steps.  You will have to logon using the user that it was originally setup as and export some registry entries and then import them into the actual besadmin account.

Make sure you change all the BlackBerry services to log back on as BESadmin and go to Edit MAPI profile and ensure it's set to BESadmin.  This edit MAPI profile setting need to be changed:

1. START > Programs > BlackBerry Enterprise Server > Edit MAPI Profile
2. START > Programs > BlackBerry Enterprise Server > BlackBerry Server Configuration > BlackBerry Server Tab > Edit MAPI Profile

I applied the changes that duff man suggested but i still couldn't get it working for some users:
I looked into it this morning, and it turns out that only us admins were affected by the blackberry outage though.  Since our accounts are highly privileged, Windows includes a background process that resets access to our accounts, including access by the BES server.   To get it working for us, I modify the AdminDSHolder object in active directory.  This is the template by which active directory resets highly privileged accounts.
