Cannot connect to WM5 emulator

I am trying to debug a windows mobile 5 device application using the emulator, however although the program runs on the emulator it does not 'see' the PC which is required as the program uses a web service. 'Cradling' the emulator device does not seem to work.

This is i what i did:-
Opened Windows Device Centre on my Vista PC
Opened my project in VS2008
In VS2008 - Tools / Device Emulation Manager / Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC Emulator / Connect
In VS2008 - Tools / Device Emulation Manager / Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC Emulator / Cradle
Opened Active Sync on the emulator - Connect via DMA - Doesnt Connect.
VS2008 / Run Application - Application loads on emulator but fails as cannot connect to web service on my PC.

Strangely this has worked in the past but it doesnt work now and have tried this on both my PC and laptop.

Also if i do VS2008 - Tools / Connect to device / Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC Emulator - the emulator loads but if i then open up Device Emulation Manager there is no > symbol next to this emulator.

Settings on Windows Device Centre:-
Allow USB Connections - Ticked
Allow Connections to  of the following - Ticked - DMA
This Computer is connected to - Work Network (have tried others)
Allow automatic device authentication - Ticked
Allow data connections on device when connected to PC

Can someone help as this is driving me nuts.

Few things to do before this step:
1. Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 installed.
2. In the emulator File->Configuration menu on Network tab check the "Enable...".
3. In the emulator in the device menu Start->Settings, switch to the Connection tab, chosse Connections. There - Advanced. Here choose "My work network". Then - press Ok.
4. In Windows Mobile Center you need to find "Connection settings" - it is in "Mobile Device Settings" when you don't have any device connected. Here under "Allow connections top one of the following" checkbox there is a combobox - you need to select "DMA".
5. In Device Emulator manager now you can click on "Cradle". You will that the emulator is connecting to the Mobile Center.
6. Test with IE if you see a web in the emulator.

I forgot about one step - when you see the emulator connected, before you launch IE, in Windows Mobile Center you need to set up the parthership - I just unchecked all items and pressed "Next".

Thanks! This has worked although strangely the Windows Mobile Device Centre does 'see' the device, it looks as though there is no activesync connection and therefore you cannot setup a partnership. The emulator however shows the two arrows as if it is connected and I can get access to the webservice on the PC.

The only problem now is that i have turn off my AVG firewall to get this to work, do you know how to allow the emulator through the firewall?
