The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

VS2008: Service MSI causing "Access is Denied" errors when coupled with ClickOnce

I have a service I wrote using VS2005.  It also used ClickOnce (CO) as a deployment agent so I can simply publish my changes and the service will fetch the latest code on a periodic basis.  The MSI is setup to install as a "User" and prompts me correctly for the username/password account to run the service under.  I have been using this combination for about 5 months now.

Fast forward:  I'm trying to migrate the solution to VS2008.  I have currently left all projects to be targeted at the .NET Framework 2.0 version (trying to migrate one thing at a time).  I can build all my projects without modification of my source.  I did change references as I'm no longer referencing the projects for my dependencies, but rather their release versioned DLLs.

In VS2008, the MSI builds and I can walk through the installer, but immediately after I enter the administrator username/password I get the following error:

Error 1001.  Access to the path '(my network publish share)' is denied.

Now, I build in VS2005 and I don't get this error at all (on the same machine).  I've tried different user accounts during the setup (including our domain administrator account) but to no avail.  Any help would be appreciated.
