Hmm so maybe You should install CentOS instead?
Go to CentOS ftp, download appropriate rpm package, trin install with
rpm -Uv package.i386.rpm
this will show You required packages to install, download them, and install with
rpm -Uv package.i386.rpm package2.rpm package3.rpm
Repeat untill all dependencies are satisfied.
