Question

Internal Error 2705. Feature - ffdshow 1.0.0.3097

Asked by: margeritha

Hi,
I´ve made an msi-file from an exe-file - ffdshow 1.0.0.3097 (Sourceforge) and solved all Validation-errors.
But when trying install the application I´ve got the error-message: Internal Error 2705 Feature

I tried this tips, but nothing is highlighted red and I`ve attach the logfile ( msiexec /I "full path to msi" /L*V c:\install.log").
"The 2705 error means you have an directory that "can't be linked as tree".  Look at the directory table directly (Setup Editor -> Tables) and see if any are highlighted red.  If so, then fix the problem.  If not then run your install with the following command line: msiexec /I "full path to msi" /L*V c:\install.log"

Grateful for tips.

Quick question, are you making the MSI via "SetupCapture" of the "ffdshow 1.0.0.3097" installation or trying to simply incorporate the Exe and have the MSI run it?

Hi Mirfster,

I´ve made the MSI via "SetupCapture" (Wisepackage) of the "ffdshow 1.0.0.3097" installation.

Margeritha,

My sincere apologies, somehow this one got forgotten.

Going forward, I will begin parsing through your "install.log".  In the meantime, did you happen to look at the Tables under "Setup Editor" to see if any items are highlighted in Red? If so, can you please let me know which Table/Item it is?

FYI, I just did a test run of a "SetupCapture" for ffdshow-20041012.exe.  Looking at the items that are captured (Files and Registry Entries) everything seems to be pretty straight forward.  I do not have access the version you mentioned "ffdshow 1.0.0.3097", unless this is the same version (the one I just downloaded really doesn't display a version number after installation).

Maybe you might want to consider using the newer version?

This error says that your table Feature is somehow invalid. That table has columns "Feature" and "feature_parent", and probably Installer can't figure out the hierarchy. For example, feature 1 is parent of feature 2, and feature 2 is parent of feature 1. Go to Setup Editor and take a look at the table.
