how do you set number of rows?

I have tried using the rowdatabound event to set the row height. i want the gridview to have height of 500. if i make gridview property allowpaging=true, the row height expands. if i turn this property to false, the rows are normal 20. i want the rows to be the same size (20) when paging is enabled.

If you enable paging, an extra row is added which is the paging row. this will extend your gridview beyond the 500 pixels. If you remove one row per page when paging is needed, the height will be the same as with paging.
