I'm pretty sure you can install the 2.0 .NET version side by side with the 3.5 .NET framework, this document tell us that we can have multiple frameworks co-existing on the same env.

Current I have all frameworks install on my system:
1.0 - v3.5
You can see what framework is install by looking in the windows directory (i.e. C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\F

3.5 is just extensions of 2.0 so you already have 2.0 if you have 3.5 so your issue isn't what you think it is.
Are you saying the website doesn't work for you when you browse to it? If that's the case it's a problem with the way it's programmed and probably showing up because you have Internet Explorer 8 on windows 7.
