The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

8.3
My company has just invested in a dedicated web server to host our multiple sites. Our IT support partners have done a basic Windows 2003 installation with SQL Server 2005 and have asked me to start loading a bit of content onto it to and do some testing.

All I want to achieve for now is:
1) Set up a test site on the server to use ASP.NET 3.5
2) Write a simple "hello world" page with the aspx extension to test this is working.
3) Set up a basic SQL database table and check that my test site can perform basic query operations on it.

(ASP.NET 3.5 is a new one on me but I'm keen to use it to start making use of the inbuilt AJAX functionality.)

I seem to have fallen at the first hurdle.
I've downloaded and installed ASP.NET 3.5 but am struggling to see how to get IIS to use it. (and even .net 2.0)
I've set up a test site standing alone from the default site and accessible through its own TCP port.
So far so good.  I created a simlpe default.aspx page
With IIS using ASP.NET 1.0 from the IIS ASP.NET tab - this works fine. default.aspx can be accessed over our network on a normal web browser.

However, if I select ASP.NET 2.0 from the IIS config page, it does not serve any content with the .aspx suffix.  I just get the "Page not found" page.

I've done a scout around for an online guide to configuring IIS for ASP.NET 3.5 but not had a lot of luck.

I'd like either:
links to a good guide for setting up IIS to serve ASP.NET 3.5 content OR
direct help to solving my problems with this.

My background is mostly in coding ASP.NET 2.0 web applications - the server setup isn't really my forte.
