.net framework 3.5 installation failed

Hi,
I'm trying to install .net framework for sql2008 installation, but it failed with following error, anyone know how to fix this or can we skip .net installation when installing sql2008

Description:
  Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 has encountered a problem during setup.  Setup did not complete correctly.

it happens sometimes, i have experienced similar issue couple of  times

here what i was able find in net

Cryptographic Services runs under Network Service which would require Users to have read access.  Provided BUILTIN\Users with read access permission to Drive C and the .Net Framework 3.5 sp1  installed successfully

second time when encountered similar issue

added the NETWORK SERVICES to the C: drive and allowed read access

right click the C drive, click the security tab, click add, type network service in the textbox, click OK, click OK again, I doubt that's the issue though.

I'm on vista, I dont see add button in C:\ properties, so strange, I'm running Vista SP1 with english US

turn off simple file sharing, go to folder options in control panel, search for the simple file sharing check box, uncheck it. Once again I doubt this is the issue though.

and if it's vista an offhand thought would be to run the install as admin.

I'm running on 32 bit vista X86 SP1 and OS language is US english, of coz I do have admin access on my machine.

I finally managed to resolved this problem, that bcoz is windows update was disabled, enable it and its working just fine....
